The Welcome Arrival of Use Class E

2020 has seen the introduction of the new 'E' use class - effective from September this year, which incorporates parts of A1, A2, A3, B1, D1 and D2 under one single use class. 

 

Formally, the likes of Restaurants and Gyms were required to obtain a change of use in order to occupy A1 premises (shops), which significantly limited their search options.  

 

Now many businesses will not have to go through the often expensive and time consuming process of applying for planning permission, with more varied opportunities available to a wider range of users.
